Tree-killer!
Back when I was a writer, I wrote stuff that people generally wanted to read. Now that I'm a manager, I write memos. The recipients of these memos generally do one of two things: 1/toss them directly into the trash or 2/read them, then come back and argue with me about some arcane detail or something I've forgotten.

To keep those arguments to a minimum -- and because a large portion of the intended audience for these memos is, ahem, copy editors -- I try to edit these things meticulously. Today, I burned through about 124 sheets of copy paper because in mid-copying, I 1/discovered I had some questionable grammar on a word, fixed it, began copying again before 2/discovering I had also misspelled the word in question.

The word: Minutiae.

There's some symbolism there. Of that I have no doubt.
