Darryl Kile, 1968-2002
Wow. Because wild speculation is allowed in this forum, I'll speculate for a second: What if the death of the Cardinals' starting pitcher was related to steroids? A death of "natural causes" at 33 really raises some suspicion, at least from this corner. Mitigating that suspicion somewhat is the knowledge that Kile's father died of a heart attack at 44, very, very young. I have no evidence of that at all -- none -- but imagine the shockwave that's going to go through the baseball world if that turns out to be the case.
Update: Preliminary autopsy report reveals artery blockage. Sounds like a horribly unfortunate death.
