The Old Daughter's spelling words were fireplace, everywhere, railroad, airport, crust, mantle, core and rock. Her assignment: write a story incorporating these words, in 15 minutes. Here's what she wrote, spelling and punctuation intact:
The Magic Book
I was sitting by the fireplace when I found an old dust-covered book. The title was Earth. I had just arived at my Aunt Lollvile's house from the airport and by railroad to her house. I opened the Earth book and the room began to spin. It spinned faster and faster! and then it stopped. I was inside the earth! I saw the mantle, crust and core. It was so cool! You can go everywhere in that book! I got rocks for my rock collection.
She's 8. I'm impressed.
