Time to talk football
Two weeks into the best time of the year, and some things are already becoming evident:

--The Dallas Cowboys cannot be as good as they looked Monday night. That's a classic up-for-the-big-game that the Cowboys, in their down periods, tease their fans with every year -- twice a year for the Redskins and now, apparently, twice a year for the Giants. That said ... it's amazing how much less Quincy Carter sucks now that he has a crew of legitimate NFL receivers.
--The Philadelphia Eagles cannot be as bad as they've looked for the last two weeks. Getting it handed to you by the Bucs is one thing; coming out flat against the very average Patriots is another entirely.
--Speaking of the Bucs: It's starting to appear that the Bucs' defense is going to have to score, too. The Tampa Bay D is already doing everything else. Brad Johnson has no more to show for throwing 61 passes than to lose 12-9 in OT? The Bucs are champions until proven otherwise; all of a sudden, however, they have something to prove.
--Who's worse: the Bengals or the Jaguars?
--Which is worse: Lisa Guerrero on the Monday Night Football sideline or the Coors Light commercials?
--I'm reminded of how difficult it is to watch Monday Night Football in the Eastern time zone, with or without Guerrero. Just about the time the game starts to get interesting -- as is happening right now, with the Giants going for a potential game-tying 2-point conversion -- I'm ready to go to bed.
--I take back what I said about the Cowboys a minute ago, as they just gave the Giants not one, not two, but three chances to get those game-tying 2 points. Guess I'd better go back and watch the game.
