Random musings
  • Item: Says here it's OK to quit your job. The Texan says: Whew. And all these years, I thought I was just a disloyal jerk. In 16 years in the work force, I've worked at four different companies, and I've never felt particularly loyal nor disloyal to anybody who wrote me a paycheck. The deal is this: If somebody comes along and offers me a better paycheck in a better place to live, I'm there. My dad was loyal to his company. The reward: A pink slip after 12 years. This story is a pretty interesting read, though; saw myself in it more than a few times.
  • Item: Prominent NASCAR car owner Jack Roush critically injured in crash of "experimental aircraft." The Texan says: I would put the words "Experiemental" and "aircraft" together only at the end of this sentence: "You'd never get my ass on an ... "
  • Item: Lakers 95, Blazers 87, Lakers lead series 1-0. The Texan says: The Blazers are very capable of beating the Lakers in this series. They won't, but they're very capable of doing so.
  • Item: Awful lot of heavy shit written on this web site lately. The Texan says: Yeah, I noticed too. I've been fairly inspired lately, but don't confuse quantity for quality. There's been a lot of the former and somewhat less of the latter. It's springtime, for Pete's sake; I'll try to provide some lighter reads.
